Williams earns Eagle rank

Sean Williams of Tyrone, Ga was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in the Boy Scouts of America, at a Court of Honor on May 3. Since 2001 Williams has been a member of Troop 79, sponsored by Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone.

For his Eagle Scout Leadership Project, he supervised and constructed a new archery range and storage cabinet for the Fayette County YMCA to be used for the summer camp program. Williams has earned 22 merit badges, completed his junior leadership training, and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow; he also served as leader during a 10 day backpacking expedition to Philmont, New Mexico.

Williams is a 2008 graduate of Sandy Creek High School and will be attending Georgia Tech in the fall as a presidential scholar.

He is the son of Tom and Gail Williams.
