The Fayette County School System will vote Monday night to surplus nearly 100 acres of property it recently purchased.

School spokesperson Melinda Berry-Dreisbach confirmed the system closed on 129 acres this week at Inman Road and Ga. Highway 92. The system paid $2.9 million, or $22,500 an acre. The system plans to use the property for a new elementary school, but only needs about 30 acres for the school site.

“The only way we could purchase the land was as one parcel,” she said.
