Fayette County Public Schools is seeking input from parents and the community regarding the 2009-2010 school calendar. Four proposed calendars are featured on the school system’s website, www.fcboe.org. All four proposals start school in August. Proposal 1 has an August 3 start date with school ending on May 21. Proposal 2 starts school August 10 and ends May 28. Proposal 3 begins school on August 12 (Wednesday) and ends May 28. Proposal 4 features the latest start date, August 17, with school ending June 4. All proposals feature a five-day Thanksgiving break (November 23-27), a 10-day semester break (December 21-January 1) and a five-day spring break (April 5-9). The winter break for proposals 1, 2 and 4 is four days (February 16-19) with proposal 3 offering a two-day break (February 12 and 16). The results of the survey will be used to determine which proposal is most preferred by parents and the community; the survey is not a vote for a particular calendar. The survey will remain online through August 15. The results will be presented to the board of education at its regular 7 p.m. meeting on August 18 at the Fayette County Board of Education. login to post comments |
