Fayette voters can head to the polls all this week to vote in the Republican and Democratic runoffs to determine the winner of two local races and one statewide race.

Polls are open in three locations starting today and ending Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The locations are at the bottom floor of the Peachtree City Library, at the Tyrone Library and in suite 208 on the second floor of the Stonewall county government complex.

People who voted in the initial primary race must select the same ballot, Democratic or Republican, that they chose in the primary, elections officials said. Voters who didn't cast a ballot in the primary may choose either ballot.

Voters with any questions such as which precinct they vote in are urged to call elections officials as soon as possible at 770-305-5408.

The two local races in the runoff are on the Republican ballot: for the Post 3 seat on the Fayette County Commission and for the judgeship of Fayette's probate court. The statewide race is for the U.S. Senate Democratic nominee between incumbent Jim Martin and challenger Vernon Jones.

In the Post 3 race, incumbent Peter Pfeifer of Peachtree City is pitted against challenger Lee Hearn of Brooks.

The probate judge race features Ann Jackson of Peachtree City and Jim Whitlock of Fayetteville.

Pfeifer, who works for the D.B. Roberts Company in Peachtree City, is in his eighth year on the commission. Hearn is the county’s former road department director who now holds a similar position in Henry County.

Jackson is a hearings officer for the Fulton County Probate Court, where she has worked since 1980 with the exception of one year. Whitlock is in private practice and has handled probate cases along with criminal and traffic matters.
