Local student receives scholarship from Clearview Credit Union

Clearview Federal Credit Union recently announced the winners of their 2008 Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship. Jillian Turner of Tyrone, Ga. was awarded one of the ten scholarships at Clearview’s annual meeting on June 21. Turner currently attends the University of Georgia, where she will graduate in 2011 with a degree in international affairs. This $1,250 scholarship will be used to further her education at the University of Georgia.

This was the ninth year the Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship was awarded. The scholarship is in honor of Ralph B. Canterbury’s outstanding service and loyalty to the Credit Union during his 34-year tenure. Applicants were judged based on a number of criteria including: academic performance, community involvement, a statement of personal goals and an essay on “Why I chose to belong to Clearview.”

Clearview Federal Credit Union serves approximately 76,000 members, with reported assets valued at nearly $650 million as of the end of the first quarter, 2008. Membership in Clearview is open to individuals who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in the Southwestern Pennsylvania community, which includes Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Membership is also open to immediate family members of current Clearview members.
