Fund-raiser to include professional baseball players, ice cream and more A group of local women are hosting a breast cancer walk fund-raiser at the Cold Stone Creamery at Ashley Park on Saturday, July 19. The event will include autographs by Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson and Washington Nationals catcher Johnny Estrada and raffles for additional signed Major League Baseball items. The women are raising money for the Susan G. Komen Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-Day. Dubbed “Coweta County Walks for Udder Perfection,” the 22-woman team will join thousands of other dedicated women and men for the Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk spanning three days and benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust. In order to participate, each walker must train for the event and commit to raising a minimum of $2,200. Entry to the event is $10, which includes a choice of a “Like It” size ice cream, ice cream smoothie or milkshake. Participants can also meet the players and have an MLB item autographed. Please note that participants must bring their own, non-paper item to be autographed. The event will take place from 12 to 1 p.m., with doors opening at 10 a.m. for ticket sales. Cold Stone Creamery Ashley Park is located next to Georgian Theatres. For more information, call 770-254-9623. The fund-raiser is the perfect complement to Cold Stone Creamery’s summer promotion, which features a baseball-themed scratch-and-win game card and an extension of the company’s popular “batter” line. In honor of July being National Ice Cream Month, Cold Stone Creamery is featuring four batter-inspired ice cream flavors: Chocolate Cake Batter, Blueberry Muffin Batter, Cookie Batter and Cake Batter. The Udder Perfection team is made up of a group of women, many of whom have family or friends who have battled or lost a life to breast cancer, dedicated to helping find a cure for the disease. They wanted to do something bold that would allow them to bond while accomplishing a challenging and personally rewarding goal. They look forward to walking the streets of Atlanta with thousands of others. For more information about the team or to make a donation, visit www.udderperfection.org.
