Respect for the dead

Asking for respect for the dead is really asking for respect for you! The dead no longer need such "respect."
It is quite possible that neither the dead nor the alive deserve much, if any. respect!
I can see no situation where people showing respect, sincere or false, helps a dead person---only the ones asking for the respect for the dead!
The respect shown should be toward a dead person's family, and especially any minor children. Everyone else he knew can fend for themselves.
Giving respect for someone living a foul life, regardless of their ignorance and circumstance, only promotes the sorry manners and life of others.
Respect is earned and is not a right, and whether one deserves it or not is most often obvious.
