For nearly 32 years I have been honored and privileged to have served you as sheriff. Together we have seen our community grow and prosper from a small rural community of local folks to one much larger and appealing to people all across the world. As we have grown, I have been fortunate to have been able to assemble a team that has been able to maintain the peace and tranquility we have been accustomed to.

Not only has my attention begun to turn to my coming retirement, I am also concerned with whose hands we will be entrusting with the future peace, safety, security, and tranquility of our homes and our lives.

The person who succeeds me as your sheriff will need to be someone who has been involved with protecting you, your families, and our community; someone with a unique perspective on where we have been and the vision to keep us heading in the right direction.

I have carefully considered and decided that Lt. Colonel Wayne Hannah is the single most qualified person to succeed me as sheriff of Fayette County.

He has been a long-term member of the Sheriff’s Office; in fact as a young man, he was already here when I first took office.

He has the experience we need. He is a person who knows how to build a consensus and get the job done. He is a straight-forward person whose words and actions you can trust.

Please join me on July 15, 2008 and help bring to office the man who will help keep Fayette County, the place we call home, a great place to live, play, and work.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving you as your sheriff.

Randall Johnson

Sheriff of Fayette County

Fayetteville, Ga.
