Hannah explains forum refusal

Upon receiving your invitation to participate in The Citizen Online Political Forum I was not at all hesitant about answering your questions. I believe the questions directed to the sheriff’s candidates are good questions and I have no concern about answering the questions directed to me specifically.

My strongest concern was the forum in which these questions and my responses would be posted. It was, and still is, my belief that this type forum only encourages some people to hide their true identities in order to post inaccurate information.

I was never uncomfortable with answering your questions. I simply did not feel that it would be productive to “dust off my keyboard” and “engage in the debate” as your invitation stated. It was never my intent to “duck” these questions and certainly not my intent to disrespect you, your readers or the voters of this county.

I have received numerous questions from concerned citizens through my website and by telephone. I look forward to continuing to answer what I consider legitimate questions in this manner, but have no intention of answering questions that I and a “blogger” know to be untrue and therefore undeserving of a response in an online forum.

I continue to stand behind my original decision, and my word to the other sheriff’s candidates, to not participate in The Citizen Online Political Forum. I have elected to post your questions along with my responses on my website (and no other media) at www.waynehannahforsheriff.com under the “blog” tab.

I do not intend to monitor the online forum for the reasons I have mentioned here. If there is a question you or anyone else deems to have merit, please email it to me at whannah08@comcast.net.
