Thank you, Randall, for your service

To say that I am disturbed and upset over all the articles being sent in by Mr. Simmons week after week with all the derogatory comments bashing our sheriff and his staff is putting it mildly. To me, Mr. Simmons comes across as one that likes to stir up trouble and not one that is qualified to become our next sheriff. I know we have this “Freedom of Speech” thing and I believe he has exceeded his portion of that law.

The person most qualified is one that has been with the Sheriff’s Department for many many years, has come up through the ranks and knows the county and its people.

It is a known fact that Fayette County has the least crime of any of the other counties.

I was sitting in the court room one day listening to the cases being pled before the judge. There were two men sitting in front of me and one leaned over and said to the other, “Man, you don’t want to get caught in Fayette County.” I think that was one of the best compliments that could ever be said about our law enforcement officers.

I have lived in Fayette County all my life (80 years) and we have had some good sheriffs during my life time, and I can honestly say that Randall Johnson has been one of the very best.

Randall, when you finish your last day as sheriff of this county, when you leave the building, hold you head high and know that you have done a great job and that we the people of this county love and respect you. Enjoy your retirement, catch up with your fishing and may God bless you and your family.
