Pioneers' Young Men take second at AAU National ChampionshipsTue, 07/08/2008 - 12:21pm

The SouthSide Pioneers Track and Field Club competed at the 2008 AAU National Club Championships meet in Orlando, Fla., last week. The SouthSide Pioneers young men’s team placed second overall in the Young Men’s division at a meet that hosted over 900 athletes. The following are the final results of the meet (first through eigth place received medals): 800M Run Young Men: 1st Place: Vince Brown 1:56.46 800M Run Young Men 2nd Place, Johnathan Owens, 1:59.13 High Jump Youth Girls: 2nd Place, Haley Young, 1.47m 4x100 Meter Relay Young Men: 3rd Place, Daiyaan Epps, Darius Harris, Carl McGill, Hughston Taylor, 42.86 1,600 Sprint Medley Young Men “A” Team: 3rd Place, Carl McGill, Hughston Taylor, Dashwa Rodgers, Vince Brown, 3:37.89 4x800 Meter Relay Young Men: 3rd place, Jared Cooper, Dashwa Rodgers, Jonathan Owens, Vince Brown, 8:32.66 3,000 Meter Run Young Men: 5th Place, Jared Cooper, 10:01.03 High Jump Young Men: 5th Place, Randarius Harris, 1.93m Triple Jump Youth Girls: 5th Place, Haley Young, 8.38m Triple Jump Intermediate Boys: 6th Place, Najee Pace, 11.79m 100 Meter Dash Intermediate Boys: 6th Place, Brandon Collins, 11.24 1600 Sprint Medley Young Men “”B” Team: 6th place, Johnathan Ross, Darius Harris, David Mathis, Jonathan Owens,3:45.03 Young Men 1,500 Meter Run Young 6th Place, Vince Brown 4:20.54 Triple Jump Young Men: 6th Place, Daiyaan Epps, 12.95m 100 Meter Hurdles Intermediate Girls: 7th place, Lynsey Douglas, 18.68 4x100 Meter Relay Intermediate Boys: 7th place, Jordan Scales, Najee Pace, Robert Chambers, Brandon Collins, 45.06 100 Meter Dash Young Men: 8th Place Johnathan Ross (ran injured), 19.36 Triple Jump Intermediate Boys: 10th Place Jordan Scales, 11.42m Javelin Throw young Women: Keme Barnette, 17.67m Javelin Throw Young Men, 11th Place, David Mathis, 30.55m Long Jump Young Men: Daiyaan Epps 12th Place 19-11.50 Discus Throw Young Women: 12th place, Keme Barnett, 20.72m Javelin Throw Intermediate Boys: 12th Place, Brandon Collins, 29.33m All first through fourth place medalists advance to compete at the 2008 AAU National Junior Olympics July 27- August 2 at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
