Mixed results for local basketball teams on Tuesday nightThu, 01/19/2006 - 4:19pm

Nearly all of the local basketball teams had region games on Tuesday night and the results were good for some and not as good for the others.
McIntosh’s boys and girls split with Northgate. The Chiefs beat the Vikings 61-44 with Kenny Reep leading McIntosh with 23 points. Trey Hudson was Northgate’s leading scorer with 11 points. The Lady Chiefs cut into Northgate’s lead several times and but came up short losing 56-46. The Lady Vikings’ Natalie Pluskota was the leading scorer with 18 points while McIntosh’s Elyse Chubb scored 15 points. East Coweta’s boys and girls got a split with Mundy’s Mill. The Lady Indians picked up a big win, their first region win of the season, by defeating the Lady Tigers 46-38. Kijauna Holiday scored 16 points for East Coweta and the team scored 25 of their points from the foul line. The East Coweta boys team did not fare as well, losing to the Tigers 62-45. Brandon Behenna led the team in scoring with 12 points. Landmark Christian’s boys and girls split with Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy. The girls won 53-35, thanks in part to 15 points from Diamond Hunnicutt, while the boys fell 67-57. Sandy Creek’s boys and girls also had a split in their matches against Creekside. The Lady Patriots got 20 points from Morganne Campbell and edged out the Lady Seminoles 51-47. David Millaud dropped 17 points for the boys but Sandy Creek lost to Creekside 60-46. Fayette County’s boys and girls also picked up a split against Newnan. The boys avenged their only loss of the season to win 72-67 with Channing Welch scoring 14 of is 20 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win. The Lady Tigers fell 40-37 with Tessah Holt leading the team in scoring qith 13 points. Whitewater’s boys and girls got swept by Woodward Academy. The boys lost 78-71 and the girls fell 51-33 with Courtney Walker leading the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 12 points. Starr’s Mill’s boys and girls played Wesleyan, a AA team, and lost. The Lady Panthers fell 63-46 with Alexis Shaffer leading the team in scoring with 12 points. The boys game was closer but the Panthers came up short, losing 55-50. Mark Harris led the Panthers with 22 points. login to post comments |
