Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will observe “God and Country Weekend” during services on Saturday and Sunday, July 5-6. Readers at the services will be active duty military personnel Bill Carter, Irene Glaeser and Bruce Ladman, and retired service members Crystal Balthrop, Mavis Compagno and Randy Gaddo. Guest preacher will be Commander Patrick McLaughlin, a navy chaplain who has just returned from his second tour in Iraq. Earlier in his career he was chaplain at Camp David, the presidential retreat. His book, “No Atheists in Foxholes: Prayers and Reflections from the Front,” is newly published. McLaughlin will talk about his experiences during Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. Services are at 7 p.m. Saturday evening and at 8:30 and 11 a.m. (two services at this hour) Sunday morning. The church is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City. login to post comments |
