Helen Maxwell Green, 84, Sparta, died June 15, 2008. She was a native of Oglethorpe County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherrod and Florye Boswell Maxwell, and a son, George Green. She had made her home in Hancock County since 1953. Graveside services were at the Sparta City Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Wallace M. and Lisa Green, Peachtree City; a daughter, State Rep. Helen "Sistie" and Robert Hudson, Sparta; grandchildren, Drew Copelan, Eatonton, Robbie Hudson, Sparta, Blake Green, and Jamie Green, both of Peachtree City; great-grandchildren, Hunter Copelan and Parker Copelan, both of Eatonton, and Eli Hudson and Walker Hudson, both of Sparta. Memorial donations may be given to the Sparta First Baptist Church, the John Hancock Academy, or the American Cancer Society. Williams Funeral home, Milledgeville, was in charge.
