First Baptist Church of Peachtree City will again participate in Peachtree City’s Fourth of July celebration with a float entry in the city’s annual parade, a barbecue and a drawing for free gifts. The church grounds also offer a great view of the city’s fireworks display.

This year, the float will showcase the church’s new Bridge Community Center. Scheduled to open the first weekend of October 2008, this 23,000 square foot facility will provide arcade areas, a gymnasium with walking track, health and civic activities, Upward basketball, and many other services to the community. The purpose of the Bridge is to provide a place for the community to gather and build relationships with each other.

The FBC barbecue begins at 7 p.m. The meat is slow cooked in smokers throughout the previous evening and is served with Southern barbecue sauce. First Baptist members provide home-cooked desserts and a variety of side dishes.

The church offers a day-long family event where people come and go as they wish, eating on the grounds or requesting to-go orders.

The church is on Willowbend Road off Ga. Hwy. 54.
