Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jones of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Alaina Karinne Jones, to Joshua Drew Mooney, son of James Mooney of Calhoun.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones of Dade City, Fla. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kraus of Lodi, Ohio. She is a 2004 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Georgia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in avian biology. She currently is in graduate school at the University of Georgia where she is pursuing her doctorate in infectious diseases.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Ms. Ruth Purcell of Holly Springs and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cox of Canton. He is a 1999 graduate of Cherokee High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sports studies. He is a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and currently is employed at Momentum Worldwide in Atlanta.

The wedding will be May 23, 2009, in Auburn, Ga.
