Singer-songwriter, photographer, record producer, actor and entrepreneur Kenny Rogers will perform at The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater this weekend. Taking stage on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21, Rogers will wrap up the 2008 Lexus of South Atlanta Summer Concert Series I singing tunes that are familiar to everyone. Rogers’s newest CD, “Water & Bridges,” which was released in March, proves that a seminal American music icon can still surprise people—and challenge himself. A story-song’s best friend, Rogers built his monumental career on his ability to convey the emotional truth of a lyric. That trait resonates throughout “Water & Bridges”—an exceptionally substantial collection of 11 new songs that concentrates on contemporary material of exceptional depth. “What a great way to end our first concert series…with a true music legend,” said Lauren Yawn, executive director of the Peachtree City Tourism Association. Savannah Jack will open for Kenny Rogers. They have opened for Rogers in other venues and the crowd loves their music. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., Savannah Jack will begin at 8 p.m. and Kenny Rogers will take the stage at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 404-249-6400, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at the box office.
