Traffic on Ga. Highway 54 West in Peachtree City was shut down late Wednesday night while police investigated a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Marketplace Connector, just east of the railroad bridge.

Police determined that one of the drivers was driving the wrong way on the highway immediately before the crash, which happened around 9:30 p.m. That driver, Ji Duan Xiao of Newnan, wrecked his car into the driver's side of a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr driven by Candes Lesher of Peachtree City.

Lesher was traveling in the opposite direction on Hwy. 54 and turned right to avoid a head-on collision just before impact, police said.

Xiao, who was driving a 2006 Honda Odyssey, was later taken to the hospital by family members, and it was possible that he had a seizure just before the crash, police said. Xiao had no previous medical history of seizures, though, police said.

Earlier in the day, police investigated another minor crash at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Ardenlee Parkway. A victim was flown by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center as a precaution because she was seven months pregnant, but she was released two hours later, police said.
