Charles L. Thornton, 79, Fayetteville, died June 14, 2008. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Graveside services were at the Jonesboro City Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Grovenstein officiating. Survivors include his wife, Helen Thornton, Fayetteville; a daughter, Linda Steele, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Shanna Steele, Fort Worth, Texas, Eric Steele, of the United States Navy, stationed in Hawaii; brothers, Billy Thornton, Blairsville, and Thomas Banks, Riverdale; and a sister, Margaret Odom, Tyrone. Memorial donations may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 680 Ebenezer Church Road, Fayetteville, GA 30215. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
