Maynard Brown, the eldest member of the Fayette County Retired Educators Association (FCREA), received the 2007-2008 Leadership Award from the members of FCREA. Presenting the award certificate is Carol Love, president for 2007-2008, Mary Maud Hiestand, immediate past president, and Jim Haymans, incoming 2008-2009 president.

The Leadership Award, a yearly presentation, is awarded in appreciation and recognition of continuous dedicated support, leadership and service to the local unit. FCREA is the local unit of Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA). GREA is the only organization in the state that focuses solely on the needs of persons retiring from the education field. Local unit meetings are held the first Thursday of September, October, November, January, February, March and April. All meetings begin at 10:30 a.m. and are held in a setting applicable for the program. Any person of the community interested in education is welcome to attend the meetings.
