• Rhodes graduates with honors
Rebekah Denise Rhodes of Fayetteville graduated magna cum laude from Truett-McConnell College, Cleveland, Ga., in the school’s 60th annual commencement on May 17. She received an associate in arts degree with a concentration in education.

• Peachtree City resident awarded scholarship
Peachtree City resident Daniel Ruy was awarded the Francis Wood Wilson Scholarship for spring semester 2008. Ruy graduated Gordon College May 10, 2008 with a degree in chemistry and will continue his education at Georgia Tech. He hopes to eventually attend medical school. The Francis Wood Wilson Foundation is a private foundation that supports charitable, religious, civic and educational activities through grants and scholarships.

• Seamands promoted to master sergeant
Davie E. Seamands has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Army. Seamands serves as the Headquarters Forces Command Military Working Dog Program manager at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Ga. Seamands has served in the military for more than 16 years. He is the son of Debi K. Price and stepson of Everett (Bud) Price of Spring Hill, Kan.; and stepson of Jay C. Seamands and Tammy Seamands of Paola, Kan. His grandparents are Freda Polfer of Spring Hill; and Everett and Beverly Price of Chanute, Kan.; and brothers Jason Seamands of Kansas City, Kan. and Dustin Seamands. His wife, Perri Beth, is the daughter of Florence Schwartz of Peachtree City, Ga. The sergeant graduated in 1991 from Spring Hill High School.
