"The Original Big Hair Girls"

Good grief! I thought that was ME on the cover of Stella Cooper Mitchell's book. No, actually I am a few pages over in the 1963-64 Midlander from Middle Tennessee State University, home of the Blue Raiders. All the women students from that era looked pretty much the same, with all that hair!

The big-hair concept was so "us," and we're still here! We're in our late-60's now, and our hair is not quite as big (thank God!). Lyon Hall women's dorm was not air-conditioned back then, so big hair was pretty quickly deflated even when we tried to poof it out there!

We have a super spokeswoman in my fellow scholar from back in the day. Stella Cooper Mitchell, are you reading this? I must purchase a signed copy of "The Original Big Hair Girls," so let me know how to do that.
