Roller hockey players from PTC to represent GeorgiaThu, 06/12/2008 - 1:04pm

Twenty-two players from the Peachtree City Roller Hockey Association will represent the city on various State Teams at the 4th State Wars tournament to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio this summer. State Wars is a National Tournament which began in 2005. For the past three years it has been held in Chicago, but this year has been moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. The tryouts are held in the spring and players try out according to the year of their birth. Ten players and 1 or 2 goalies are picked for each birth-year team to represent the State. Teams from all over the United States and as far away as California and Hawaii, have been represented at this tournament over the past 3 years. It is one of the best run, and attended roller hockey tournaments held. Peachtree City has had players chosen for Georgia teams for since its origination in 2005. Representing Peachtree City at the 2008 State Wars Tournament on the 1996 team is Kerrigan Arnold. Local players chosen for the 1995 team are Ben Lisicia, Mitchell Myers and Connor Nash. 1994 will be represented by Austin Baldwin, Chris Beardsell, Mark Boone and Josh Staley. Ryan Martin, Cale Massa and Chase Williams are on the 1993 team and goalie Kaitlan Bohan, Jake Dorman, Sam Lisicia and Neilsen Waters will be on the 1992 team. Six players and one goalie from PTC were chosen for the 1991 team. They are Korey Arnold, Alex Decker, Cody Hammock, Connor Pigott, Ryan Routh, Ty Taylor and goalie Doke Massa. Some birth-year tryouts have as many as 30 players trying out for 1 of the 10 spots on the team and the PHA is extremely proud to have this many players chosen from Peachtree City for Georgia State Teams. login to post comments |
