What started as a trickle with the Fayetteville store’s closing has now grown into a full-grown river as Goody’s Family Clothing filed for bankruptcy this week. The company had been an original tenant in the Fayette Pavilion. The store there closed earlier this year. Along with the filing, the company plans to close a number of stores including those in nearby Newnan, Kennesaw, Conyers, Austell, Cumming, Gainesville, Hiram, Tucker and South Augusta. Goody’s filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. In addition, Goody’s has secured a commitment for $210 million in debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing to supplement its working capital and provide adequate liquidity while it works to reorganize the business. Additional information on the announcement is available on the company’s website at www.goodysonline.com and at www.loganandco.com. — John Thompson login to post comments |
