We always expect the same from terrorists

I heard a conversation today about the current price of oil and how it had gone up just today more than it ever had before--about $10/barrel, I think they said.
Then they were discussing how much more it might go up and what does the current price mean for gas prices in the near future. Well, the answer was that if it stayed at the current price, we would see $5.50 per gallon soon!
Also discussed was what might make it go way up---maybe to $200 plus dollars--if even you could get any crude oil!
Terribly sad talk, especially when they began to discuss the government figures of today on employment numbers--another record loss---biggest in 20 years! On top of that many are working for far less than two-three years ago (Delta, etc., here).
No one wants to know really what inflation numbers are really going to be when the government actually puts out real numbers and quits "adjusting" them for this and that. Not only is food getting out of the reach of many, but the world simply isn't growing enough for everyone currently. We can't afford that corn into gas!!

There is other bad news that looks as if it won't go away next week, but what hit me in the top of my head like an Edison light bulb suddenly, was this:
If terrorists have really been working on something other than bombs blowing up buildings---say, maybe they cripple the delivery of crude from the Persian Gulf
to the United States!
Now I hope some ninny doesn't ask me how they might do this, since if I knew I would long ago have told the FBI and the CIA!

I declare, it just seems like sometimes that we no longer have the ability to do much of anything (don't know how)about really protecting the USA! No imagination.
We are good at bombing--probably even hydrogen bombing, but then what do we do? Try to build it back?

I saw rationing during WW2 with coupons and such on nearly everything, and even then the "black-market" flourished. Many did without most things. However we were fighting a "good" war then, but maybe not now--and maybe a good one doesn't exist anymore.

There may be time yet to get someone working on like a 1940s "Manhattan Project," I would think there are still some around who if given their way could do it! Just don't ask Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, former generals, Brownie, Bremer, and Delay to help with it!
