Candidates to address Fayette Democrats

The Fayette County Democrats will host its monthly breakfast meeting Saturday with breakfast starting at 10 a.m. at Chaps Restaurant in Tyrone. Three Fayette County Democratic candidates — Kevin Madden, Wendy Felton, and Rod Mack —will address the group.

Kevin Madden will announce his candidacy for state representative for the 72nd district of the Georgia General Assembly. Madden has been a resident of Peachtree City for the past eight years and has been an active participant there as baseball, soccer, and hockey coaches in the community sports programs.

Madden is the chairman of the Fayette County Democratic Committee and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2004.

Madden attended St. John’s University and has been in the transportation business for over 30 years. He is the owner of Global Airlift Services Corporation and is currently the president of the Atlanta Air Cargo Association, a civic organization that promotes the airline industry by providing college endowments, scholarships and charitable contributions.

Madden is married to Kim, a Fayette County educator. They have been married for 23 years, and they have three sons. The Maddens are members of the Holy Trinity Church in Peachtree City.

Wendy Felton is a candidate for Fayette County Commission for the special election to fill the unexpired term of the late Commissioner A.G. Van Landingham. Felton has been active in her community by serving as president of the Harbor Lakes homeowner’s association for three years and as secretary for one year. She has been a volunteer with many organizations, including the Breast Cancer Walk and the NAACP’s youth council. Felton has enjoyed serving as a PTO volunteer at Spring Hill Elementary School, Whitewater Middle School, Fayette County High School, and Whitewater High School. She has also been active as a football and band booster. Felton is also proud to be a team mom for baseball, softball, and soccer teams.

Felton earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Tuskegee University. She is employed by the city of Fayetteville. She has worked for the city for the past four years. She is also vice president of the Felton Group, LLC.

Felton is a member of the Fayette County NAACP, the Fayette Democratic Women, the Fayette County Democratic Committee, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Felton is a member of Flat Rock AME Church.

Rod Mack is a candidate for Fayette County Commission for the election to be held in November 2006. Mack is the owner of RodAir Courier Service. He has been active in the community for many years. He is a member of the Fayette County Democratic Committee. He is the father of three children. Mack is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

The Fayette County Democrats invites everyone interested in Democratic politics in Fayette County to participate. The Fayette County Democrats meet on the third Saturday of every month for breakfast. This month’s meeting will be held at Chaps in Tyrone. Meeting participants can order from the menu beginning at 10 a.m.
