Palmetto councilman calls it quitsThu, 06/05/2008 - 2:33pm
By: Ben Nelms
Palmetto City Council member Jeff Yasson resigned his position May 29 citing family obligations. An appointment to fill the position is expected at the council’s July meeting. Mayor John Miller said Thursday that Yasson’s decision came last week and resulted from family obligations out of state. Yasson for some time has been absent sporadically from council meeting, including during portions of 2007, in order to help provide care for a relative. Miller said Yasson had been thinking about resigning his position for some time. Yasson took office in January 2006. An appointment to fill the unexpired term will be made, likely at the council’s July 7 meeting, Miller said. An appointment will be made rather than holding a special election since Yasson had already served more than half of the four-year term, Miller said. login to post comments |
