Although Newnan Theatre Company kicked off their latest production, “Wait Until Dark,” last week, audiences still have two more weekends to catch this thrilling show.

“Wait Until Dark,” by Frederick Knott, is a Hitchcockian thriller set in a Greenwich Village, N.Y. basement apartment in the 1960s. Susy Hendrix and her photographer husband, Sam, have recently moved to the area. Due to a series of twists, Sam has brought a child’s doll back with him from a business trip, unaware that it holds a valuable stash that several ex-cons desperately want to get their hands on.

In the ensuing drama, Susy is terrorized by three men with no conscience and only one goal: to find that doll. To add to the tension, Susy is blind. This classic nail-biter will have audiences on the edge of their seats.

The cast includes seasoned veterans and several newcomers. Susy is portrayed by Newnan Theatre Company (NTC) veteran Terri Morrison, while another NTC favorite, Jamie French, portrays the lead “bad guy,” Mike Talman. In another leading role is Darren Mathews, who first appeared on the NTC stage in last fall's “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.”

Joining Newnan Theatre Company for her first show is 11-year-old Given Sharp, just coming off of playing the lead role of Scout in Southside Theater's production of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” where she won over audience members' hearts. The cast is rounded out by newcomers Sam Gentry and Brad Austin, as well as some other NTC regulars, KC Pollak and Mike Patterson, in supporting roles. The show is directed by long-time NTC actor and director Scott Pollak.

“Wait Until Dark” will play at 24 First Avenue in downtown Newnan on June 6-8 and 12-14. Shows begin at 8 p.m., except Sunday shows which begin at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets for the production are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets for students and senior citizens are also available for $12. Tickets can be purchased online at www.NewnanTheatre.com or at the door.
