Martha Bennett Fort, 74, Jonesboro, died Jan. 3, 2006, after a long illness. She was born March 12, 1931 in Jacksonville, Fla. She had been a long-time resident of Jonesboro, graduating from Jonesboro High School. She was graduated from Randolph Macon Woman’s College and retired as a social worked and school teacher. She was a life member of Alpha Delta Pi and a member of both the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, and the Wieuca Road Baptist Church of Atlanta. A private family memorial service was held. Survivors include a sister, Jeanne Fort Brewer, Fayetteville; one nephew; and three nieces. Memorial donations may be made to the VISTAS Hospice Car, 5411 Northland Drive, Atlanta, GA 30342.
