Boy Scouts Stephen Cook of Troop 275, Chip Freeney of Troop 309, Tommy Keen of Troop 275 and Boomer London of Troop 201 all received their Eagle Scout Awards at their Court of Honor held on Saturday, April 5. The four boys were Cub Scouts together and crossed over to Boy Scouts in fifth grade, joining Troop 275. While members of this troop, the Scouts worked together to earn the National Honor Patrol Award, a rare achievement in Scouting. Although all of the Scouts did not remain with Troop 275, they continued to keep in contact with each other. When it became apparent that they would all achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, they chose to hold their Court of Honor together. The Scouts’ original Scoutmaster, Scott Babbitt, was the emcee of the ceremony and each current Scoutmaster – Keith Manley of Troop 275, Chip Beard of Troop 309 and John DiVergilio of Troop 201 – participated in honoring the boys. Stephen Cook, a graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus, will be attending Valdosta State University in the fall.
