Venice Cooper

Venice “Granny” Cooper, 78, Peachtree City, died Jan. 12, 2006. She was born Aug. 13, 1927 in Anniston, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mattie Wheeler, her husband of 53 years, Samuel Cooper, a son, Jimmy Cooper, and a daughter, Susan Elaine Davis. She managed to take care of a large family and also work outside her home as a nursing assistant at a nursing home where she retired with 25 years of service. She worked in her garden, canning the food she raised, and when time allowed, enjoyed fishing and reading her Bible. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronald Whitlock officiating. Interment was at Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include children, Sammy Cooper, Lynn Bone, Charlotte Scott, Dianne Mooreman, Stanley Cooper, Bob Cooper, Doug Cooper, Danny Cooper, Cathy Harrison, Nancy Hosmer, Donna Thompson, Janet Collins, Jana Holliday, and Scott Cooper; brothers, George Wheeler, Jim Wheeler, and James Wheeler; sisters, Betty Jo Edison, and Fran Stoler; 31 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
