Dyer receives scholarships
Students from the Department of Art at the University of West Georgia were recognized for academic excellence at the annual Art Honors and Awards Program. Dawn Dyer of Fayetteville received the C.J. and Dorothy Colevins Scholarship and the Mittie Brooks Johnson Scholarship.

Callaway receives scholarship
Hannah Callaway, daughter of Clay and Maria Callaway and granddaughter of James and Alice Callaway of Fayetteville and Maria Guadalulpe Orozco of Mexico City, has been selected as the recipient of the 2008 Goziueta Foundation Scholarship for Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. The scholarship is awarded to Georgia College and State University students with outstanding academics and those who have demonstrated leadership abilities. Callaway just completed her freshman year and made the dean’s list for both fall and spring semesters. To be selected for the dean's list, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.2 on 12 or more hours of work attempted for the semester and have at least a cumulative grade point average of 2.5.

Rembert presented the William L. Lockhart Scholarship
Kelvin Rembert, of Fayetteville, Ga., was presented the William L. Lockhart Scholarship at the University of West Georgia Department of Chemistry Awards Ceremony. The scholarship honors Lockhart for his contributions as a chemistry instructor and is awarded to a promising chemistry major who has exhibited “heart” and has completed an academic year of consecutive chemistry courses.

Neeley recognized as honor student
University of the Cumberlands recognized Olivia Neeley of Fayetteville, Ga. as an honor student during the annual Honor’s Day service held on April 21. Honor recognition is given to those students attaining a 3.70 cumulative grade point average. Neeley is a biology major.
