It's "all for one and one for all" in the swashbuckling and exciting story of “The Three Musketeers” presented by Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts in association with Georgia Dance Theatre. This fun, action-oriented production of “The Three Musketeers” will be presented Sunday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at The Centre for the Performing & Visual Arts of Coweta County, located on Lower Fayetteville Road in Newnan. This classic adventure is brought to stage with creativity and excitement by professional dancers from the Atlanta Ballet and Georgia Dance Theatre, and students of GAD & the Performing Arts. Under the direction of Sherri Davis, owner and director of GAD & the Performing Arts, this original ballet is packed with fight scenes and swordplay, comical Musketeers, and a romantic encounter of young love. Taking a slight twist on the story, Davis has captured the beauty of a classic novel and projected it on stage with engaging choreography and talented dancers. This production of “The Three Musketeers” recounts the adventures of a young man named D’Artagnan after he leaves home to become a musketeer. D’Artagnan will be danced by Christian Clark, professional company member of the Atlanta Ballet, long-time guest artist for Georgia Dance Theatre and dance educator for GAD & the Performing Arts. “I’m so excited to be performing again with GAD,” says Clark. “Original ballets are always challenging, and I’m excited to have the opportunity.” During D’Artagnan’s adventures through Paris, he encounters the serious, yet sassy Constance Bonacieux, a lady in waiting to Queen Anne of France. Dancing the lead of Constance is Nichole O’Brien, six-year professional company member of Georgia Dance Theatre. “I am very honored to be dancing the lead this year,” says O’Brien. “GAD has been a huge part of my life since I was 8 years old. They have always supported all my ambitions, and I feel so blessed to be living out my dream as a dancer with them.” O’Brien has trained and performed with GAD & the Performing Arts for the past 17 years. “It has been a great joy for my life to watch Nichole grow into a vibrant dancer and artist,” says Davis. “She embodies what is required to be a great role model for young dancers, and I am very proud that she is continuing her dance career with us.” Additionally, she has received training from the Rock School of Ballet of Pennsylvania by invitation, the American Ballet Theatre as a student and a mentor, and the Atlanta Ballet on full scholarship. After graduating from Emory University with a double major in political science and psychology and a concentration in marketing and advertising, O’Brien came to GAD & the Performing Arts full-time as a professional company member of Georgia Dance Theatre, hip hop director and dance educator and the marketing and public relations assistant.
