Nancy Boyle, second grade teacher at Peeples Elementary, has been named Project WET Teacher of the Year for the state of Georgia. Boyle was recognized at an awards dinner at Unicoi State Park in Helen. The goal of Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) is to facilitate and promote awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources. Last year, Peeples designated the week of Earth Day to be “Water Week.”

Boyle planned lessons for every grade level in the school. She worked with the PTO to purchase all materials needed for the lessons, and even trained parent volunteers to do the activities with classes.
