Lesley Goodwin named as new principalThu, 05/29/2008 - 3:15pm

The Coweta County Board of Education has named Lesley Goodwin as the new principal of Poplar Road Elementary School for the upcoming year. Goodwin, currently the assistant principal of Thomas Crossroads Elementary School, will succeed Rebecca Gibson, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Goodwin will begin in the new post on July 1. Goodwin has taught in the Coweta County School System for all of her teaching career, beginning as a 3rd grade teacher at Eastside Elementary in 1995. During her six years at Eastside she also taught as a Title I Technology teacher. Goodwin was named assistant principal at Evans Middle School in 2002, and moved to Thomas Crossroads Elementary as an assistant principal in 2006. Goodwin earned her Bachelor’s degree from Lagrange College in Early Childhood Education in 1995, her Master’s in Educational Leadership from the State University of West Georgia in 2002, her Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University in 2005. She is currently working to complete a Doctorate as well. The Board of Education named Goodwin upon the recommendation of Superintendent Blake Bass, during a called session May 21.
