Coweta roads projectThu, 05/22/2008 - 2:36pm
By: Ben Nelms
Let the work begin. A total of 35 county roads around Coweta. Coweta will get a facelift beginning May 22. The road improvements will be made through a process called Full Depth Reclamation (FDR.) The majority of the roads in this project are neighborhood and residential roads, with the exception of Raymond Hill Road, which will begin work on May 27, said Coweta County Public Information Officer Patricia Palmer. “The work will include all of Raymond Hill, from Hwy. 154 to Fischer Road, and has an estimated completion time of 2 weeks,” Palmer said. ”There will be lane closures during the course of the project, but no road closures. The entire project will take approximately 10-12 weeks.” Full Depth Reclamation and repaving makes the best use of the old asphalt while creating a strong, longer-lasting road, said Palmer. In this process the old pavement is ground up and incorporated into a new base for the road, then repaved over the top. FDR has proven to provide a better, stronger road, while creating less waste and saving costs in the long run. The Miller Group is the contractor for the project, with C.W. Matthews as the subcontractor. County funding will be used to cover project expenses. The following roads are scheduled for work to be performed under this FDR project: Glen Cannon Tr., Raymond Hill Road, Richmond Place, Priscilla Way, Barrington Farms Drive, Barrington Court, Barrington Overlook, Shoal Creek Drive, Cross Roads Estates, Hardwood Court, Tree Top Court, Nanette Drive, Thomas Crossing Drive, Brooke Place, Chesterfield Drive, Waterford Place, Southfield Drive, Southfield Court, Mosswood Drive, Mosswood Court, Fairway Court, Springfield Drive, Springfield Court, Overlook Drive, Inverness Way, Highland Point, Audubon Place, Audubon Point, Florence Drive, Lancaster Way, Creekview Drive, Wahoo Court, Trevino Trail, Joe Lee Drive and Lawn Market. login to post comments |
