Fayetteville Police investigated what was thought to be fireworks or gunshots early Monday morning, only to find bullet holes in the walls and a window of a Heritage Lake Drive home.

The person responsible for shooting into the home is unknown at this time, said Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw.

Crawshaw said the incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. when police received several calls for what was described as either shots being fired or fireworks being set off in the area in northwest Fayetteville.

Officers performing a close-up survey of homes found bullet holes in the exterior walls and a window of one of the homes, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw said one of the neighbors noticed a white car leaving the area during the time the shots were fired. Officers are investigating the incident, he said.
