On Saturday, May 17, communities worldwide will participate in the 13th annual Kids Day America/International – a health, safety, and environmental awareness day. Dr. Matthew Davis will be sponsoring the event locally from 12 until 3 p.m. at South Metro Ministries, 3935 Ga. Highway 34 E in Sharpsburg, Ga. The event will provide essential information on crime prevention, internet and child safety and environmental awareness. The Coweta County Sheriffs office will be on hand to provide free fingerprint/ID kits to all the children who attend. There will also be appearances by “McGruff” The Crime Dog and “Sparky” The Fire Dog. The Fire Department is bringing a fire truck as well as a smoke house and will teach fire safety tips to the children. Dr. Matt Davis will provide free health screenings and will be distributing vital information on disease prevention and health promotion. “We will also provide free balloons, food and fun for everyone. There will be special giveaways and free prize drawings every half-hour. In addition we are raising money for The McNeal Family Foundation (a charity which helps families of kids with leukemia) and the Coweta Count SAFE Program,” said Davis. The event is free. “This year is especially exciting for Kids Day America/International as it is being represented nationally by celebrity spokesperson Jonathan Lipnicki – star of such films as ‘Jerry Maguire’ with Tom Cruise and Stuart Little 1 and 2,” commented national event founders Drs. Theresa and Stuart Warner. “We encourage the entire community to join Dr. Matt by participating Saturday at this unique, fun-filled community awareness event.” For more information, call 678-457-8721. login to post comments |
