Who’s your daddy?

If you love him and think he’s a candidate for Father of the Year, write to The Citizen and, in 500 words or less, tell us all about him and why he should be Father of the Year.

The newspaper last did this in the early ’90s, according to publisher Cal Beverly.

“This is something that we have wanted to do since then,” Beverly said. “We are pleased so many of our advertisers have come alongside us to help make this happen again.”

Apparently, the readers have wanted the opportunity to praise their fathers, too, because several local dads were nominated in The Citizen’s recent Mother of the Year contest.

Three fathers will be honored, one from each of the following age groups: under 40, 40-60 and over 60.

Partner sponsors for the competition include: Nature’s Nursery, The Dinner A’Fare, Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center, Velocity Sports Performance, Fayetteville Fun Bowl, Rosa’s Home Cooking, Ace Hardware, Nikko Japanese Steakhouse and Fayette Woman magazine. Other sponsors may also join the effort before the contest ends.

Each sponsor is donating gift certificates and/or prizes to honor winning dads.

To nominate your father for this honor, email your 500-word (or less) entry, along with a digital photo of your father, to win@thecitizen.com. Be sure to include your name, address and phone number and your father’s name, age, address and phone number, in an introductory paragraph.

Entries must be received by midnight on Tuesday, June 3. Winners will be featured on the front of The Names and Faces section of The Citizen on Wednesday, June 11.
