U.S. Magistrate Judge Russell G. Vineyard made a presentation to the fifth-graders at Crabapple Lane Elementary School in Peachtree City about “The Rule of Law” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Law Day on May 1, 2008. The presentation was sponsored by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the Federal Bar Association. Vineyard presented each student with a copy of the U.S. Constitution and explained how the various articles and amendments of the Constitution affect their everyday lives. He also explained the Federal Court system and discussed the various court employee functions. Vineyard held a mock court proceeding and showed videos that demonstrated how our legal system works. The students and court staff played an interactive “Double Jeopardy” game using the information the students learned about the Constitution and court procedures during the presentation. login to post comments |
