Chocolate is good for the heart

This Saturday the community will come together to benefit victims of domestic violence at the Holllingsworth House in Fayetteville, while indulging in some sweet treats at the Chocolate Explosion event. The City Cafe, Publix, Kroger's and many other local businesses have generously donated a variety of chocolate treats for guests to sample and enjoy all they can eat. Proceeds will benefit Promise Place, which serves over 1,000 women and children each year in Fayette, Pike, Upson and Spalding counties.

The event, scheduled for 12 to 7 p.m., will include activities for kids such as live music, face painting and a petting zoo. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children and can be purchased at the door. Promise Place services are free and include advocacy, help through the legal system, a teen dating violence program in the Fayette County schools, temporary shelter, transportation and all that is needed to help victims get back on their feet at a time of crisis. For more information on Promise Place or the Chocolate Explosion event please call 770-460-1604.
