By: The Citizen
Bang off your running shoes and lace them up, because it’s time for the 16th annual Old Courthouse 5K Road Race, to be run Saturday, May 17 in Fayetteville, Ga. Sponsored by the Fayette County Civitan Club, this year's Old Courthouse 5K proceeds again will be going right back into community assistance organizations, which include the Joseph Sams School, Southwest Christian Care, Fayette County Special Olympics, ExceptionalOps and several other care giving organizations. The Fayette County Civitan Club, is a local community service club, serving as part of Civitan International, and is dedicated to helping those that can't help themselves. The road race will begin at 8 a.m. behind the Old Fayette County Courthouse, in the parking lot of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Race day registration will begin at 7 a.m. Pre-registrants are also advised to arrive early for check-in. Each race registrant will receive a heavy 100 percent cotton T-shirt, with an original artwork designed by William Cothron. Cothron, an accomplished and award winning artist, is now based out of Alvord, Texas. This will be the first time his artwork will be adorning the road race T-shirt. All race finishers will be in a drawing for door prizes furnished directly by corporate sponsors. Overall male and females winners will receive Old Courthouse 5K etched-glass trophies, and all first, second and third place male and female runners in each age group will receive dated etched-glass Old Courthouse 5K medallions with ribbons.
