Council to meet TuesdayMon, 01/16/2006 - 2:13pm
By: Ben Nelms
Union City Mayor Ralph Moore is slated to give his State of the City address at the Jan. 17 City Council meeting. Also on the agenda will be a number of items customarily addressed at the first session of the year. The Jan. 17 draft agenda calls for the State of the City address following the swearing-in ceremonies for Moore, council member Shirley Jackson and newly elected council member Angelette Mealing. Details of the address were not available at press time. The bulk of the agenda will involve consideration for various annual appointments. Some of those include consideration of South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, the appointment of a mayor pro-tempore, City Clerk Tammy Shelton and Public Service Director Buddy Landrum. Also up for consideration are contract services, including the annual 12-month appointments for city attorney and building inspector and six-month appointments for city engineer, municipal judge, public defender, solicitor, auditor and landscaper. Other considerations include purchase of a bobcat skid steer, excavator and trailer, contracted services for bailiffs for court services and changing the city’s legal organ from the South Fulton Citizen to the South Fulton Neighbor. Other new business such as consideration of appointments to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board are expected. login to post comments |
