Sandy Creek is wrestling in the Area 4-AAAA duals at Lithia Springs High School today, while Landmark Christian is competing in the Area 5-A duals at Social Circle High School today. The top two teams from the area duals will meet at the State Dual Meets in Macon next weekend.

In preparation for the duals, Sandy Creek’s wrestling team hosted Starr’s Mill and Carrollton on Tuesday. The Patriots fell to Starr’s Mill 70-5 but defeated Carrollton 48-30. Samson Horne (189) was the only Sandy Creek wrestler to go 2-0 on the evening. He defeated his opponent from Starr’s Mill by technical fall and pinned his Carrollton opponent.

Other winners against the Trojans were Zack Smith (119), 6-2; Alan Blackburn (130), pin; Jeremiah Graham (135) pin; Drew Gunnin (140), pin; Alex Willis-Cruz (145), pin; Frank Brand (152), pin; Travis Cooper (171), 5-1 and Derek Scarborough (215), pin.

“There were several close mathces against Starr’s Mill,” said Patriot coach Scott Smith, stating that Willis-Cruz, Brand, Gunnin and Graham all wrestled well.

Sandy Creek will wrestle at Luella on Tuesday, while Landmark will host Pace on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
