PTC spring cleanup this weekendFri, 05/02/2008 - 2:42pm

Recycling center open today, tomorrow; path cleanup urged Peachtree City’s annual Spring Cleanup is this weekend, and the city’s recycling center will be in full swing, accepting many types of items that normally aren’t. The only things that won’t be accepted are old tires and batteries. Also, refrigerators must have their freon removed along with a certificate of removal and old lawn mowers and power equipment must have all the gas and oil removed. The recycling center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days in an effort to help those who are in the “spring cleaning” mood. The normal hours of operation are Wednesdays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers are also asked to clean up the cart paths and other areas in the city. The Recycling Center accepts: • Cardboard (all types) • Magazines • Newspapers • Aluminum, steel and tin cans • Tree trunks - 3" to 12" diameter and 4' maximum length • Grass clippings & dried leaves • Plastic Containers • Electronics • Computer Towers • Laptops • Modems • Mice • CD Drives • Communication Devices (cell phones, cordless phones, pagers) • Remote Control Devices • Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) • Routers • Servers • Digital Cameras • Fax Machines • Projectors • Typewriters • Stereos • Record Players • Camcorders • VCRs Electronic items that are not accepted include: TVs, Microwaves, light bulbs, and wooden stereo speakers Recycling is also available at the Public Works Administration Building, located at 209 McIntosh Trail. The recycling area at Public Works is open 24 hours a day. The items accepted at this location are: newspapers, magazines, plastic containers and cardboard (all types). login to post comments |
