Time limit set for annex proposals

Developers seeking to annex property into Peachtree City’s corporate limits will have a ticking clock if they get a first-round approval from the City Council.

Last week council adopted a new ordinance setting a year-long deadline for proposals to come before council for a vote. The clock starts the day council issues a step one approval, which allows city staff to work with developers on the proposal.

Annexations are expected to become more of an issue in coming years since there is little vacant land left to develop inside the city, particularly for residential development.

Previously there was no timetable for annexation proposals to come up for the final “step 2” vote, which would be the vote to approve or deny the proposed annexation.
