Piedmont Newnan gets new critical care services director

Piedmont Newnan Hospital has named Betsy Jackson as director of critical care services. As director of critical care services, Jackson will be responsible for the 12 bed intensive care unit as well as the 21 bed progressive care unit.

Jackson has been a part of Piedmont Newnan Hospital for more than 15 years. She began her career at Newnan Hospital as a registered nurse in 1993 in the Intensive Care Unit. Jackson was director of employee health from 2003 through 2007 and was recently director of risk management from 2007 until April 2008.

"Betsy has been a valued staff member of the Piedmont Newnan family for more than 15 years," said Peggie Lawson, vice president of patient care services. "With her expertise and experience, we are delighted to have Betsy lead our critical care services department."

Previously, Jackson was an adjunct instructor for West Central Technical College in Newnan. Before working in Newnan, Jackson worked in the neuro critical care and cardiac step-down department at Toledo Hospital in Ohio.

Jackson received her associate of applied science degree in nursing from Owens Technical College in Toledo, Ohio in 1986 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, with honors, from the University of Phoenix in 2005.

Jackson and her husband Bob reside in Newnan.
