Mr. and Mrs. Allan Richard Landis of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Brooke Elisabeth, to Matthew Michael Barksdale, son of Mrs. Nancy Barksdale, and the late Michael Locke Barksdale, of Peachtree City.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Landis of Saint Simons Island, formerly of Atlanta, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard Handley of Fayetteville. She is a 1998 graduate of Fayette County High School, and 2002 graduate of Berry College, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in middle grades education. She received her masters degree in science education from the State College and University of West Georgia in 2007. She is employed by the Coweta County Board of Education and teaches eighth grade science at Arnall Middle School in Newnan.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Charles Max Kelly and the late Mrs. Connie Alexander Kelly of Decatur, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Maggie Locke Barksdale of Griffin. A 1997 graduate of Woodward Academy, he received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi, in Oxford, Miss. He is employed by Drive Financial Services as an area sales manager.

The wedding is planned for July 12 on Saint Simons Island at Lovely Lane Chapel, Epworth by the Sea, with the reception following at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, Saint Simons Island.

Following a honeymoon trip, the couple will reside in Newnan.
