Local tennis teams could meet in quarterfinals with second round wins

McIntosh and Starr’s Mill boys tennis teams stormed their way to the second round of the AAAA state playoffs.

The Chiefs beat Stockbridge 5-0 and the Panthers shutout Dutchtown by the same score. The second round will be played today with McIntosh hosting Ware County and Starr’s Mill playing at Greenbrier. Should the two local teams win they will face off on May 6.

McIntosh’s Lady Chiefs knocked off Upson Lee 4-1 in the opening round of the AAAA playoffs, while Starr’s Mill blanked Westside, Macon 5-0. The Lady Chiefs will play at Lakeside, Evans today, while Starr’s Mill will host Thomas County Central. Should the local teams win their second round matches, they will face off in the state quarterfinals on May 6.
