A new summer activity for teenage boys 14 – 18 years old is in the planning stages – Big League Boys Softball. Boys Softball has become an increasingly popular tournament sport and is included in many high school programs across the country.

Boys who were 14 – 18 years old on December 31, 2007, are eligible to register for the new summer program. Big League Boys Softball will be played on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons during June and July at Meade Fields in Peachtree City. Teens may form their own teams from within a current “club” affiliation such as a church, chorus, band, scout, or other group, or they may sign up individually and be placed on one of the other teams.

Boys playing on an existing Junior or Senior League Baseball team may participate on a Big League Boys Softball team at the same time.

An organizational meeting will be held Monday, May 5, 7 p.m. at Velocity Sports Performance at 297 Dividend Drive, Peachtree City. Registration will begin at the meeting and games will begin in June.

Adult supervisors, coaches, umpires and team sponsors are needed for the program.

The program will be sponsored by District 4 Little League Baseball and Softball. All players and volunteers will be insured and will play according to the Big League Softball Rules. This program is intended to provide leadership opportunities to teens in Fayette County as well as provide a fun summer activity.
